In solids-liquid separation operations across oil drilling, metallurgy, and mining industries, the mud shale shaker is the core component of drilling fluid solids control systems. Most drilling sites are equipped with two drilling fluid shale shakers, one in use and one standby, or both operating simultaneously. However, some large drilling rigs require multiple shakers to meet processing demands. To address this, TR Solids Control has designed the dual shale shaker: the integrated two-unit solution that delivers efficient, stable, and durable solids-liquid separation, while simplifying on-site assembly, disassembly, and rig relocation.

Mud dual shale shaker consists of two shale shakers mounted side by side on the common base, sharing one mud distributor and one recording tank. This compact, integrated design adapts flexibly to different drilling site layouts. Each shaker is equipped with independent cushioning devices and a box-type or tubular mud distributor to ensure even distribution of drilling fluid to both screen surfaces. As the result, the dual shaker design doubles the processing capacity compared to single unit.
During operation, drilling fluid enters the mud distributor through the feed port and is evenly divided onto the two shaker screens. Under the excitation force of the vibrating motors, the screen surfaces generate high-frequency reciprocating motion, creating relative movement between the mud and solid particles. Coarse cuttings are retained by the screen mesh and move along the screen to the discharge port, while fine particles and liquid pass through the screen into the mud tank, completing the solids-liquid separation. This process is continuous and stable, achieving twice the throughput of the single shaker.
TR Solids Control offers dual shale shakers with an adjustable excitation force design. Users can adjust vibration amplitude and frequency in real time based on mud viscosity and solids content, ensuring high separation accuracy while avoiding “screen blinding” or fluid loss.
Doubled Processing Capacity: Two shale shakers working together meet the high circulation rate demands of large drilling rigs. For smaller rigs, one unit can run while the other serves as backup, allowing maintenance without downtime.
Easy Transport and Installation: The integrated skid structure enables single-lift handling, eliminating the need to disassemble individual units during rig moves.
Durability and Cost-Effectiveness: High-abrasion-resistant screen meshes and cushioning devices extend screen life. Maintenance costs are low, and TR Solids Control provides standardized spare parts and support.
Mud dual shale shakers are widely used in oil drilling solids control systems, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), and slurry treatment in shield tunneling. When selecting the unit, consider processing capacity, screen area, vibration frequency adjustability, and manufacturer technical support. As the professional solids control equipment manufacturer, TR Solids Control offers customized solutions from single units to multi-shaker arrangements, helping customers achieve efficient, low-cost solids-liquid separation.
