Description

The TR subsea valve sits at the bottom of an oilfield mud tank and controls drilling fluid moving through the bottom piping. The same valve is also called a tank bottom valve or mud tank bottom valve in oilfield equipment catalogs.

Inside the body, a valve plate and sealing assembly open and close the flow passage. The operating mechanism extends above the tank, so the valve can be operated from the tank deck rather than from below. Individual compartments can be closed off when a tank needs to be isolated.

The suction piping is integrated into the tank structure for installation and transport.

Working Principle

The handwheel turns a lead screw. That moves the connecting rod and the valve plate.

With the plate lifted off the sealing seat, the passage is open and drilling fluid flows through the bottom piping. Turning the handwheel the other way brings the plate back onto the seat and closes it.

Selection and Customization

Valve size follows the line it connects to. Pick from 6", 8", 10", 12" or 14" to match.

Operation type is the second choice, and it comes down to how often the valve is used and where the operator stands. Handwheel is the common default. Lever suits valves that get opened and closed through the shift. Electric is the one to ask for when the valve has to be worked from a control panel or the deck is not always accessible.
