Hook Strip Soft Screen

The Hook Strip Soft Screen is a consumable shaker screen for shale shakers and desander/desilter cleaners used in oil drilling. Unlike rigid hook strip screens with metal support plates, the soft screen uses flexible hook strips on both sides for fast tensioning and installation, making it widely used across oilfield solids control systems.

Structure & Material

The screen body consists of 2–3 layers of stainless steel wire cloth (304/316 grade) bonded with oil-resistant, high-temperature-resistant resin — no rigid metal support plates. Edges are wrapped with wear-resistant rubber or polyester hook strips, compatible with pull-type and snap-type screen frames. The screen surface is flat. Mesh range: 20–150 mesh; finer mesh available on request.

Selection Guide

• Mesh selection: Match mesh count to drilling fluid viscosity, solids content, and well depth. Coarse mesh (20–60) for shallow wells; fine mesh (80–150) for deep wells. Multi-layer screens allow graded filtration.

• Material: 316 stainless steel is recommended for sour gas or high chloride ion environments.

• Installation: Apply even tension across the screen to avoid local slack and tearing. Do not run damaged screens; solid phase breakthrough will contaminate the circulation system.

• Maintenance: Rinse with clean water during operation intervals to prevent mud caking. Inspect and replace on a regular schedule per API RP 13C.
