Vertical Sand Pump

Vertical sand pumps (submersible slurry pumps) are drilling fluid pumps developed for specialized installation requirements. They are suitable for conveying corrosive drilling fluids with suspended particles or other liquid media in similar operating conditions. They are primarily used in special applications such as those with limited installation space and for centrifuge feeding. Currently, four series are available: LSB150, LSB100, LSB80, and LSB50. They are also suitable for both 50Hz and 60Hz power grids.

Vertical sand pump has four major functions in oilfield drilling solids control system: 

(1) It sends drilling fluid that has been initially desanded by mud shale shaker to cyclone desander or desilter at certain pressure and displacement to further reduce sand content in drilling fluid; 

(2) It acts as injection pump to inject drilling fluid into mud; 

(3) It is dedicated pump for slurry supply to centrifuge; 

(4) It cooperates with jet mixing device to add weight and prepare drilling fluid. During operation, vertical sand pump casing is immersed in the drilling fluid, and its seal is non-contact labyrinth seal, which effectively solves the long-standing problem of sand pump sealing.
