The Derriok 10" Desander Cone Assembly is high-efficiency hydrocyclone used in oil and gas drilling operations to separate solid particles (40-100 microns) from drilling mud. The desander operates on the principle of centrifugal separation:
Drilling mud enters tangentially into the upper section under pressure
Centrifugal force causes denser solids to migrate to the cone walls
Solids spiral downward to the apex as "underflow"
Clarified mud exits through the vortex finder at the top as "overflow"
