Drilling Waste Management System

  • TR Drilling Waste Management System treats OBM and WBM drilling cuttings, recovers drilling fluid, reduces oil or moisture in cuttings, and lowers waste disposal volume.
  • Description

TR Drilling Waste Management System (DWM) processes drilling cuttings and recovers drilling fluid for reuse. Separated fluid is collected and returned to the mud circulation system, reducing mud losses and the amount of waste sent for disposal.

The system handles both oil-based mud (OBM) and water-based mud (WBM) drilling waste. For OBM, treatment focuses on drilling fluid recovery and reducing oil on discharged cuttings. For WBM, the focus is drilling fluid recovery and moisture reduction. For projects with mud-specific treatment requirements, TR also supplies dedicated Oil-Based Mud Treatment Systems and Water-Based Mud Treatment Systems.

How It Works

Drilling cuttings from the solids control process are transferred to the vertical cuttings dryer by a screw conveyor or vacuum transfer pump.

The vertical cuttings dryer separates drilling fluid from the cuttings. The treated solids leave the dryer with reduced oil or moisture content and are discharged for collection, transport, disposal, or further treatment according to the project requirements. The recovered liquid flows into a 4 m³ catching tank.

The liquid from the dryer contains fine solids and is transferred from the catching tank to the decanter centrifuge by a TRG30A-075 screw pump. The centrifuge removes the remaining fine solids and recovers drilling fluid for return to the active mud system.

The decanter centrifuge is mounted on a telescopic skid at an elevated position, allowing the recovered fluid to flow to the active mud system by gravity. The second TRG30A-075 screw pump supplies flushing fluid to the vertical cuttings dryer.
