In oil & gas drilling, trenchless engineering, and geothermal development, solids control is the core link ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly operations. The professional Solids Separation System not only significantly improves drilling efficiency and reduces operating costs but also helps companies achieve sustainable development under increasingly strict environmental regulations. TR Solids Control analyzed the value, technical components and selection criteria of the solid control system, providing guidance for drilling projects.

During drilling, the bit continuously breaks rock, generating a large amount of cuttings and solid particles. If not removed timely and effectively from the drilling fluid, the chain of problems will arise:
Bit wear and stuck pipe risk: Solid particles circulate with the drilling fluid, acting like sandpaper to wear down the bit, drill string, and downhole tools.
Loss of drilling fluid performance: Excessive solids concentration alters fluid density, viscosity, and rheology, potentially leading to wellbore instability or even blowouts.
Non-Productive Time (NPT) surge: Poor solids control causes equipment failures and poor hole cleaning. The modern solids control system significantly reduces NPT.
Environmental compliance pressure: Traditional mud disposal methods no longer meet legal standards. The cost of waste treatment is rising, making solids waste management a key economic factor.
A well-designed, fully configured solids-liquid separation system delivers tangible benefits:
Significantly reduce drilling fluid consumption: Mud recovery rate >90%, greatly reducing new mud preparation and waste disposal costs.
Extend equipment life: Remove abrasive solids to reduce wear on bits, pumps, and pipelines.
Improve ROP and wellbore quality: Clean drilling fluid better removes cuttings, cools, and lubricates.
Meet environmental compliance: Paired with "zero-discharge" solutions, achieve waste mud reuse and reduce land pollution.
Lower overall operating costs: Savings in mud, maintenance, and disposal can reach up to USD 960,000 per well.
TR Solids Control's system uses the 5-stage progressive purification process to separate solid particles step by step from coarse to fine.
The TRZS series shaker features a compound linear & elliptical motion, G-force adjustable 0.5–6.5, single-unit capacity 200–500 m³/h, shaker screen mesh API 20–325.
The TRZCQ series vacuum degasser uses -0.04 to -0.08 MPa vacuum to remove >95% of free gas and some dissolved gas. Capacity 240–360 m³/h, with explosion-proof control panel.
Cyclone separation for particles 44–74 μm. Cone lined with silicon carbide composite, service life >2,000 hours. Capacity 150–300 m³/h.
Separates particles 15–44 μm using 2–5 inch cones. Can be integrated into a mud cleaner for barite recovery.
High-speed rotation separates 2–25 μm solids. Medium-speed series (TRLW355-450): solids recovery 95%. High-speed series (TRLW600): separation accuracy 2–7 μm, full hydraulic differential speed adjustment. Bowl made of 2205 duplex stainless steel, lifespan extended by 50%.
TRJBQ series agitator: direct drive without coupling, power 5.5–37 kW, solids suspension rate >98%. Jet mixing device based on Venturi effect, mixing efficiency 3× higher than traditional stirring.
Oil-Based Mud "Zero-Discharge" Treatment
For oil-based drilling fluid waste, the system controls cuttings oil content ≤3% and solids water content ≤6%, with liquid phase directly reused. The package includes mud buffer tank, screw conveyor, cuttings dryer, high-speed centrifuge, etc., achieving fully enclosed zero-spill treatment.
Modular Design & Rapid Deployment
Modular combination adapts to land rigs and offshore rigs with drilling depths from 2,000 to 9,000 m. Containerized base with pre-installed piping significantly shortens site installation time, ideal for space-limited locations.
API & ISO Certifications
Certified to ISO 9001 and API Q1. Products exported to Dubai, Thailand, USA, Egypt, Australia, Russia, India, Singapore, and many other countries.

Oil & gas drilling: Covers ZJ10 to ZJ70 rigs, suitable for water-based and oil-based mud systems.
Shale gas & unconventional resources: TRZS shaker with three-layer polyurethane composite screen – service life 3× longer.
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD): TRHDD compact mud recovery system, capacity 50–240 m³/h, separation accuracy down to 15 μm.
Geothermal drilling & large foundation piling.
When selecting mud system, consider the following:
Rig specifications & mud pump capacity: System capacity must match maximum pump output.
Formation lithology & expected solids content: Hard formations require stronger primary screening; soft formations need enhanced stage 4 & 5 treatment.
Mud type (water-based / oil-based): Oil-based mud requires cuttings dryer + high-speed centrifuge.
Environmental standards: For zero-discharge requirements, choose a complete package.
Site space & transport conditions: For limited space, select modular compact design.
