How can the design of shale shaker vary depending on different drilling environments and applications?

The design of shale shakers needs to be dynamically adjusted according to the complexity of the drilling environment and the differences in application scenarios. TR Solids Control has built customized solutions to adapt to different working conditions through modular design, material innovation, and intelligent control technology. Taking the high-temperature and dusty environment of the Middle East as an example, its customized mud shale shaker adopts high-temperature resistant polyurethane screen and ceramic composite coating technology, which enables the screen to maintain a screening rate of more than 85% at a high temperature of 120℃. At the same time, through the sealed screen box structure and double-layer dust cover design, the amount of sand and dust intrusion is reduced by 90%, ensuring that the equipment can operate continuously for 72 hours without failure in a strong wind and sand environment.

To address the space constraints and corrosion risks of deep-sea drilling platforms, Tianrui has developed a compact dual-track shale shaker. This screen utilizes three-motor composite vibration system to switch between linear and elliptical modes, achieving processing capacity of 120 t/h within a confined space of 0.8 m³. The screen box is constructed from 316L stainless steel using single casting process, coupled with a nano-oleophobic coating, reducing the salt spray corrosion rate to 0.01 mm/year and extending its lifespan by five times compared to traditional carbon steel structures.


In shale gas development, Tianrui has launched four-layer pre-tensioned frame screen system to address the challenge of separating micro- and nano-sized rock cuttings. This system utilizes composite structure of 0.25mm ultra-fine pore polyester screen and 0.5mm stainless steel support mesh to achieve particle rejection rate exceeding 92% for particles smaller than 74μm. Equipped with an intelligent pressure sensor, the system monitors screen tension in real time and automatically compensates, extending the screen's lifespan from the conventional 800 hours to 2500 hours.


TR Solids Control has developed modular shale shaker platform that can be rapidly adapted by establishing drilling environment parameter database and correlating 23 parameters, including vibration frequency, amplitude, and screen inclination angle, with operating conditions such as formation lithology and drilling fluid density. This platform supports screen replacement within 15 minutes and vibration trajectory adjustment within 30 minutes, reducing the average drilling cycle for single well by 18 days and increasing mud recovery rate to 92%.
