In oil and gas drilling engineering, drilling fluid gas invasion is critical issue that cannot be ignored, as it is directly related to well control safety and operational efficiency. Gas invasion leads to reduced drilling fluid density, abnormal viscosity, decreased drilling efficiency, and even potential safety hazards such as well kicks and blowouts. The 300-model vacuum degasser launched by TR Solids Control has been widely applied in oilfield sites due to its high-efficiency degassing performance.

Drilling fluid plays vital role in drilling process. It not only carries cuttings and cools drill bits but also balances formation pressure and prevents blowouts. However, when gas invades drilling fluid, a large number of bubbles are formed, resulting in reduced drilling fluid density, unstable performance, and even well control safety accidents. Therefore, timely and effective removal of gas from drilling fluid is the key to ensuring the smooth progress of drilling operations.
TR Solids Control’s vacuum degasser utilizes the suction effect of vacuum pump to form negative pressure zone inside the vacuum tank. Under atmospheric pressure, mud enters the hollow shaft of the rotor through the suction pipe, and then is ejected toward the tank wall through the windows around the hollow shaft. Under the action of collision and separation wheel, the drilling fluid is separated into thin layer, the bubbles immersed in it are broken, and gas is released. Subsequently, the gas is sucked by the vacuum pump and separated by the gas-water separator, then discharged to safe area through exhaust pipe, while the mud is discharged out of tank by impeller. This process ensures the effective removal of gas from drilling fluid and restores the density and performance of mud.
