Hook Strip Soft Screen

Hook Strip Soft Screen / Soft Hooked Shaker Screen is consumable accessory for shale shakers and desander/desilter cleaners used in oil drilling. Different from rigid hook strip screens with metal support plates, it is widely applied in oilfield solid control systems.

Structure & Material

Core Structure: Usually composed of 2–3 layers of stainless steel wire cloth (304/316 grade) bonded together, without rigid metal support plates. Flexible hook strips on both sides allow fast tensioning and installation. The screen surface is mostly flat.

Technology: Layers are bonded with oil-resistant and high-temperature-resistant resin. Edges are wrapped with wear-resistant rubber or polyester hook strips, suitable for pull-type or snap-type screen frames.

Mesh Range: Commonly 20–150 mesh, higher precision can be customized.

Compatible Models: Mainstream oilfield shale shakers and cleaners such as Brandt, Derrick, etc. Often used as standard configuration or cost-effective alternative.

Typical Applications: Primary/secondary solid control in onshore/offshore oil & gas drilling, shale gas development, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), and shield mud treatment, used to separate drill cuttings of 20–150μm.

Selection & Application Tips

Mesh Matching: Selected based on drilling fluid viscosity, solid content, and well depth. Coarse screens (20–60 mesh) for shallow wells, fine screens (80–150 mesh) for deep wells. Multi-layer screens realize graded filtration.

Material: 316 stainless steel is preferred in sour gas/high chloride ion environments.

Installation: Even tension to avoid local slackness and screen tearing. Do not use damaged screens to prevent solid phase penetration and contamination of the circulation system.

Maintenance: Rinse with clean water during operation intervals to avoid mud caking. Inspect and replace regularly in accordance with API RP 13C.
