How to Choose a Wear-Resistant Submersible Slurry Pump? Performance Comparison Analysis!

Submersible slurry pumps, as core equipment for conveying high-concentration abrasive slurries, are widely used in oil fields, mines, metallurgy, power generation, environmental protection, and other fields. The selection of a wear-resistant submersible pump requires comprehensive consideration of operating conditions, material compatibility, structural characteristics, and performance parameters.

I. Core Factors for Selecting Submersible Slurry Pumps

  1. Medium property analysis

Particle size and concentration: The maximum particle size and volume concentration of solid particles in the medium must be clearly defined. For example, for conveying mine tailings, a pump with an impeller clearance ≥1.5mm should be selected to avoid clogging.

Corrosiveness: If the medium contains strong acid/alkali components, high chromium alloy (Cr26~Cr30) or duplex stainless steel should be selected. Corrosive liquids need to be coated for protection.

Temperature: For high-temperature conditions (>80℃), heat-resistant steel material must be selected and a cooling water jacket device must be installed.

  2. Flow rate and head calculation

Flow rate: Based on the maximum design flow rate, with a margin of approximately 15%. Tianrui YZ series flow rates cover 6-555 m³/h, for example, 100-200 m³/h models can be selected for subway construction mud transportation.

Head: Adjustments need to be made based on pipeline resistance, liquid level difference, and density. A 10% margin should be allowed to compensate for performance degradation due to wear. Tianrui pumps have a maximum single-stage head of 61m; for higher head requirements, they can be used in series.

  3. Installation method compatibility

Submersion depth: Conventional pumps have an insertion depth of 800~2000mm. For ultra-deep applications (>12m), extended shaft or submersible pumps are required.

Fixed installation method: No pump room required (vertical installation), saving space, especially suitable for narrow environments such as tunnels and underground mines.

  4. Enhanced wear resistance

Material selection: High chromium alloy (Cr27) is preferred for flow-through components. Its hardness can reach HRC62 or higher, and its wear resistance is 3 to 5 times that of ordinary cast iron.

Structural design: The combination of a semi-open impeller and stirring blades can effectively crush large particles and reduce impeller wear.

Shaft seal design: Maintenance-free design (such as Xi'an TR YZ series), which achieves seal-free operation by lengthening the bearing body, and increases the service life by more than 3 times.

II. Pump body selection and configuration

Configuration partsSelection criteriaTR Solid Control Product Advantages
ImpellerSemi-open type (with stirring blades to prevent sedimentation and clogging); equipped with anti-reverse device (to protect the motor).Standard configuration includes a semi-open impeller and stirring blades, with a unique anti-reverse design.
Shaft seal systemSubmersible shaftless design (to prevent leakage); dynamic pressure reduction structure (to reduce slurry penetration).Sealless and maintenance-free operation; power pressure reduction technology lowers the risk of leakage.
Motors and bearingsPower surplus factor 1.1-1.2; imported bearings (for high load resistance)Power range from 0.75-90kW, standard configuration with SKF high-precision bearings.
Pump shell materialPrecision casting process (uniform wall thickness); wear-resistant alloy (impact resistant)The pump casing is made of alloy cast iron with a wall thickness 15% thicker than the industry standard.

III. TR Solid Control System Selection Recommendations

  1. High-concentration scenarios (such as underflow conveying in mineral processing plants, with a concentration of 60%-70%).

Recommended model: YZ series submersible slurry pump

    Key components: Cr30A flow-through components + 15kW or higher motor + extended straw (for depths > 1.5m)

  2. High-temperature corrosion scenarios (such as chemical waste transportation, temperature ≤300℃)

Recommended configuration: Alloy cast iron pump body + fluoroplastic lining + temperature monitoring module

Compatibility advantages: Resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, intelligent motor temperature control and early warning.

  3. Mobile operation scenarios (such as mud supply for piling projects)

Recommended model: Small YZ series (power ≤15kw)

Key advantages: Lightweight (300-500kg), easy to install, and suitable for temporary pools.
