TR Solids Control Mud Hoppers Bulk Shipment for Domestic Drilling Project

Recently, jet mud mixing hoppers custom-made by TR Solids Control for domestic drilling project has completed production and been officially arranged for shipment. These equipment will soon be delivered to the project site to meet the matching requirements of the solids control system for the drilling project.

As an auxiliary equipment of the drilling solids control system, the Mud Hopper (also known as drilling fluid mixing hopper) is special jet mixer for adding and mixing materials into the solids control drilling fluid. It is designed to realize the rapid and uniform mixing of drilling fluid with various additives, improve the key performance of drilling fluid such as density, viscosity and fluid loss, and provide stable guarantee for drilling operations. It can also form a complete shearing and hydration system with shear pump, and is widely used in various drilling scenarios including oil and gas drilling, coalbed methane drilling and trenchless HDD drilling.

The jet mud hoppers shipped this time consist of imported reducing joints, nozzles, tees, horn outlets, butterfly valves and hoppers. High-speed flowing liquid with kinetic energy enters the nozzle from the imported reducing joint and is jetted into the tee at high speed. Meanwhile, additives enter the tee from the hopper, and the additives and liquid are mixed through flow, then enter the drilling fluid system through the horn outlet.

The application of Mud Hoppers brings numerous advantages. Before drilling fluid additives (such as barite powder, bentonite, salt, mud chemical additives) enter the drilling fluid system, they can be fully and uniformly mixed with the drilling fluid. This feature greatly improves the quality of drilling fluid, saves mud costs, and features fast feeding speed and strong mixing capacity.

The flexibility of the Mud Hopper is prominent highlight. The Mud Hopper can be paired with shear pump to form mud shearing and mixing device, providing solution for drilling fluid treatment. In addition, the jet mud hopper matched with sand pump can form jet mud mixing device, and this combination method can be flexibly adjusted according to the requirements of different drilling projects.

There are two installation methods for the mud mixing hopper: high-level installation and low-level installation. After the high-level installation of the jet mud mixing hopper, drilling fluid materials are lifted to the top of the drilling fluid tank. For the low-level installation of the jet mud mixing hopper, reasonably designed climbing angle is adopted to make the outlet directly enter the drilling fluid tank and prevent the drilling fluid from overflowing from the hopper.
