Derriok 10"Desander Cone Assembly

The Derriok 10" Desander Cone Assembly is a high-efficiency hydrocyclone used in oil and gas drilling operations to separate solid particles (40-100 microns) from drilling mud. This assembly is the core component of a desander unit, designed to handle high flow rates while maintaining excellent separation efficiency.

TR make 10" Desanders are manufactured using high quality polyurethane that has excellent resistance to heat and abrasion. Our Desanders offer operators very high volume 500 GPM cone where Feed is tangentially blended into the cone entry as a narrow rectangle. 

Design & Components

The 10" desander cone consists of three main sections :

1. Upper Section (Cone Top): Contains inlet port for drilling mud

2. Middle Section (Cone Body): The conical portion where centrifugal separation occurs

3. Lower Section (Cone Bottom): Includes outlet for underflow (solids discharge)

Working Principle

The desander operates on the principle of centrifugal separation:

1. Drilling mud enters tangentially into the upper section under pressure

2. Centrifugal force causes denser solids to migrate to the cone walls

3. Solids spiral downward to the apex as "underflow"

4. Clarified mud exits through the vortex finder at the top as "overflow"

Applications

The 10" desander cone is primarily used in:

1. Oil and gas drilling mud systems as secondary solids control equipment

2. Mining operations for separating coarse solids from process fluids

3. Industrial wastewater treatment for removing heavy particles

The Derriok 10" Desander Cone Assembly is a critical component in drilling mud solids control systems, efficiently removing coarse solids (40-100 microns) at high flow rates.

The 10"  Desander cones are divided into three easy to replace or service sections which are held together by stainless steel clamps. The joints between each of the sections are metal reinforced. 

Regular inspection and proper apex adjustment will maximize its service life and separation efficiency in demanding oilfield environments.
